Plan Nord

Plan Nord is a sustainable development initiative encompassing projects in the energy, mining, forestry, bio-food, tourism and transportation sectors, as well as wildlife development, environmental protection and biodiversity conservation. It favours development for the benefit of the communities directly concerned and Québec as a whole, in a spirit of respect for cultures and identities.

Plan Nord covers all of Québec north of the 49^th parallel, including territories north of the St. Lawrence River and the Gulf of St. Lawrence, except for Île d’Anticosti. It thus comprises the Nord-du-Québec region, most of the Côte-Nord region and the northern part of the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region.
