Would you like to start your own business or become a self-employed worker? If you are eligible for the Support for Self-Employment measure, you can receive financial assistance to develop a business plan and start your own business or create your own job.
Who is eligible for the Support for Self-Employment measure?
- Employment Insurance recipients.
- Persons receiving benefits under a last-resort financial assistance program.
- Unemployed persons who do not receive government income support.
- Persons who have precarious employment.
The Support for Self-Employment measure must be the solution that will enable you to find work and join the labour market.
Eligible projects
To be eligible for assistance, your project must:
- be viable;
- meet a local need;
- not create unfair competition for similar businesses in the same territory.
Participation time
Carrying out your project must be your main occupation.
Duration of assistance
Maximum 52 weeks.
Resources providing assistance
- Local employment centres (CLEs)
- Local development centres (CLDs)
- CLD-accredited organizations that offer entrepreneurial support.
